THE KIND OF PLACE WHERE I LIVE by Michael Walker
is a place where it’s ok
to lie
to call people niggers,
to send Mexicans back home
because they’re illegal.
Just downright illegal people.
The kind of place where I live
is a place where it’s ok
to build up walls
on the southern border
to keep Mexicans out,
but to open the northern border
and ask Canadians in
because they have a booming
film industry and they look
a lot like us,
except for the French ones,
they can stay home,
or we’ll send them home
because if we want them to be,
they can be just as downright
illegal as the Mexicans.
The kind of place where I live
is a place where 300,00 people
can march the streets
in one city alone, and scream
THIS IS NOT OK, YOU ARE WRONG,
and the governments will still say,
No We Are Right
and they will remain officially right,
until later when all of us are dead
and somebody else is writing books.
The kind of place where I live
is a place where I have to worry about
keeping food in my pantry
from day to day,
and I still feel better off than most
of the Mexicans,
who have to go back to Mexico.
So fuck you Arizona,
all the way down.
